Social Policy


The Social Policy Unit, led by the Senior Advisor on Social Policy, helps IUCN integrate social issues into its Programme – from project implementation to policy influencing. It helps develop strategies and policies that promote good governance and livelihood security and carry out work on themes including:

  • Indigenous Peoples
  • Human Rights and Rights-based Approaches (RBA)
  • Bio-cultural Diversity
  • Poverty and Conservation
  • Sacred Natural Sites
  • People and Protected Areas
  • Food Security
  • Social Equity
  • Socio-cultural Aspects of Climate Change Impacts and Policy
